J-Con Civil Ltd. was contracted in this project to extend/repair an HDPE raw water intake line for Public Works and Government Services Canada at Environment Canada's Water Monitoring Facility in Emerson, Manitoba. Divers were required to locate the HDPE lines on the riverbed. Once compromised sections were brought up to a work-boat and removed, piping extensions and fish screens complete with galvanized stands were installed and secured to the riverbed.
The result of J-Con's work and ingenuity at this facility will help Environment Canada monitor incoming water quality from the United States for years to come.
In this project, J-Con Civil Ltd. is currently performing the following ongoing work over the next 3 years for the City of Winnipeg's Water and Waste Department:
- Harvesting and disposal of aquatic vegetation from stormwater retention basins.
- Repairs to revetment, access ramps and other civil works as required for the maintenance of the stormwater basins.
This project valued at approximately $400,000 exhibits some of J-Con's capabilities as both a marine and civil contractor. Environmental compliance and safety is of paramount importance in any of our undertakings. On projects such as this where we perform work in water or other environmentally sensitive areas, these focuses become even more intensified.
